Did you know the colours above represent the Pan-African flag? The flag was created in 1920 to represent the people of the African diaspora and became a symbol of Black liberation and sovereignty. The flag also symbolizes the union of governance, people, territory and the unification of all Black individuals.
Red symbolizes the blood that unites all people of Black African ancestry and their fight for liberation. Black is for the people whose existence as a nation and not a nation-state is affirmed. Lastly, green represents the abundance and natural wealth of Africa, the Motherland of Black existence (California State University San Marco, n.d).
