Initiatives

The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion has undertaken several initiatives to assist in prioritizing inclusivity on campus. We're happy to share the latest initiatives from our office below. To learn more about the Western B.L.U.E. program, please visit our Blackademia virtual hub.

Western Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (WIDE) Survey

Western has renamed the Western Equity Census to the Western Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (WIDE) Survey to reflect its dynamic nature and widespread scope. The questions were updated by the EDI Data Working Group, who engaged in extensive consultation processes with the wider campus community.  The WIDE survey will be available through My Human Resources and Student Center on February 1, 2024. Information collected through the WIDE Survey is voluntary and confidential. We strongly encourage you to complete the WIDE Survey when it is available to ensure your voice is heard and contributes to the development of a more equitable and inclusive Western.

Western EDID Central Working Group

Western created the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Council in March 2021 as part of the university's response to the report of the Anti-Racism Working Group (ARWG).

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) Champions

EDID Champions are allies who play a crucial role in shaping the organization's culture and ensuring that it is a place where all students and employees feel valued, respected, and included. EDID Champions will contribute to building more welcoming and innovative spaces by advocating for equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization.
