Past Events

A glimpse into the events we hosted during the 2025-2026 academic year.

We hosted our first Passover Community Lunch in partnership with Western Hillel, providing 50 Kosher for Passover meals. This gathering was intentionally created to provide space for Jewish students to pause, enjoy a meal with friends and feel supported on campus.
To support Trans and 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion at Western, we hosted Malcolm Macdonald, a PhD student and researcher in the Faculty of Education, for Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV). His work highlighted the importance of visibility, peer networks and structural change in ensuring that 2SLGBTQIA+ students feel less isolated and more supported on campuses.
We hosted our first Iftar Community Dinner in partnership with the Muslim Students’ Association (MSA), welcoming over 150 students. This gathering was intentionally created to provide space for Muslim students to pause, enjoy a meal with friends and feel supported on campus.
With 100 registrations, we welcomed Dr. Bipasha Baruah for this International Women’s Day talk. Dr. Baruah discussed how to continue organizing and mobilizing to address the persistent social, economic, and political inequalities women face everywhere in the world.
The Black Legacy Conference gave over 150+ Black students the opportunity to connect with peers, gain valuable career and wellnessinsights and engage in empowering conversations that celebrated Black excellence. We held mental health and career workshops, group conversations and five concurrent industry breakout panels.

EDIDA Awareness Month programming exploring accessibility, gender equity, and community building, including a law panel engaging the 2SLGBTQIA+ community focused on queer resilience, resistance, rights, advocacy and lived experiences.

We hosted three EDI Student Welcome events during the 2025 Orientation Week (O-Week), where over 800 incoming and returning students from equity-deserving groups joined us to learn more about the events, initiatives, resources and supports available to them at Western. We held a Black Student Welcome, 2SLGBTQIA+ Student Welcome and a Muslim Student Welcome.
We hosted two Pride events in June and July 2025, exploring allyship and how to build intentional, safe spaces for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to thrive.

We hosted two educational events for Asian Heritage Month focused on resistance and resilience within South Asian communities, with a combined total of 130 registrations.
