Unpacking and Addressing Anti-Indigenous Racism

This module explores the manifestations of racism and discrimination against Indigenous Peoples in Canada, examining how they appear across institutional, systemic, and interpersonal contexts. Participants will learn to identify and challenge harmful myths and misconceptions that perpetuate anti-Indigenous racism while developing concrete strategies to take meaningful action in personal, professional, and community settings. This e-learning module also encourages ongoing learning and active engagement in efforts to decolonize systems and support Indigenous rights and sovereignty.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Describe how racism and discrimination against Indigenous Peoples in Canada manifest across interpsetonal, institutional and systemic contexts
  • Identiy and challenge harmful myths and misconceptions that perpetuate anti-Indigenous racism
  • Explain how ongoing efforts to decolonize systems relate to supporting Indigenous rights and soverignty
  • Demonstrate approaches to allyship by identifying actions that support Indigenous communities and contribute to respectful, accountable relationships
