Immaculate Kizito Namukasa is a Professor specializing in Mathematics Education and Curriculum and Pedagogy at Western University. Previously, she held positions as a Faculty Program Chair and a University Teaching Fellow. Dr. Namukasa earned her PhD in Education from the University of Alberta in 2004. She has served as a journal editor for the Ontario Mathematics Gazette and is currently an editor of the Math + code’Zine.
Additionally, she teaches and has supervised several graduate students in various areas of education, including Mathematics Education, at Western University. Dr. Namukasa’s ongoing research, which spans three public Ontario school boards and one private school system, is in mathematics education, integration of technology in learning, maker education and pedagogical reforms. She works on multiple research projects, including Mathematics for Teaching in public and private schools, Design and Research of Mathematics Learning Apps, and Computational Participation in Mathematics Education. Before pursuing her PhD, Dr. Namukasa taught and engaged in school-level curriculum leadership in several roles in secondary school mathematics in Uganda.
