Dr. Thomas Kwasi Tieku is a Professor of Politics and International Relations at King’s University College at Western University. A former Director of African Studies at the University of Toronto (UofT), Dr. Tieku’s current research, which is supported by an Insight Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), focuses on informality in international organizations. He is the recipient of the Excellence of Teaching Award from UofT, the Hugh Mellon Excellence in Research at King’s and the Best Article Prize from the Review of International Studies/ the British International Studies Association for his work on The Legon School of International Relations. He has authored, edited or co-edited four books and written over 45 refereed book chapters and journal articles. His latest co-edited book is The Politics of Peacebuilding in Africa. He has consulted for several organizations including the World Bank Group, the African Union, the United Nations, and the governments of Canada and the United States of America.
