Award of Achievement in Anti-Oppression

Program format: Complete four online modules (100% online and asynchronous) and attend at least one virtual or in-person workshop. 

The Award of Achievement in Anti-Oppression consists of four e-learning modules you can navigate at your own pace. We also offer virtual and in-person workshops that can be found on our website. All of the modules are open for registration at any time. 

Assessments: Once you complete each module, participants complete quizzes posted in OWL. There are ten questions in each quiz. You need eight correct answers to pass and be issued a certificate of completion for each module.

Duration: Approximately 10 hours (approximately 8 hours to complete online modules and 2 hours in a workshop).

Cost: Free for Western constituents.

To complete the certificate, you must complete the following online modules: 

Unpacking and Addressing Antisemitism 

Unpacking and Addressing Anti-Asian Racism 

Unpacking and Addressing Anti-Islamophobia 

Unpacking and Addressing Anti-Black Racism

1. Go the module webpage you wish to register for. Click on the registration button.
2. Login to your OWL account using your email address and password.
3. Click “Yes, add me” to join the work site.
4. Click on the “Instructions” tab on the menu to the left.
5. To be recorded as having successfully completed the module, you must take a quiz once you’ve completed the module and obtain 80% or higher. The quiz can be re-taken multiple times until successful completion.

• A Western email account.
• A computer, laptop or tablet using Windows, macOS or iOS
• The latest version of a web browser (or previous major version release).
• A reliable internet connection.

You should also have the technology to watch videos, listen to audio, and download and read PDF files. 

You will also need access to a video camera and microphone for synchronous virtual workshops. 

Everyone can retake the quiz multiple times and they are granted a Certificate of Completion once they achieve an 80% on the test. The quiz can be re-taken as many times as needed until successful completion.

• Click on the Certificate Tool located on the left side menu in OWL.
• Click the “View Certificate (PDF)” link and download your certificate of completion.
