Unpacking and Addressing Islamophobia
This module invites participants to explore Islamophobia and its impact on Muslim communities in Canada. It provides an introduction to key aspects of Muslim life, including significant holidays, traditions and symbols. Participants will also examine common myths associated with Islamophobia and learn practical strategies for recognizing and addressing microaggressions and discrimination.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Define Islamophobia and understand key concepts related to Islam
- Reflect on current stereotypes and tropes, understanding how they harm Muslim individuals and communities
- Implement strategies and take actions to confront Islamophobia to build a more inclusive environment

- This module counts toward the Award of Achievement in Anti-Oppression offered by the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Western
- This module is offered in an asynchronous format; 100% online
