Transforming Power and Privilege

This module invites participants to explore their positionality and deepen their understanding of how power and privilege shape experiences within communities and institutions. Through guided reflection, you will examine how personal identities influence your interactions with the world and consider how privilege and power can be transformed into tools for fostering equity, collaboration and inclusion - both on campus and in your personal and professional life.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Create a social identity map to reflect on your positionality and relationship to Northern Turtle Island
  • Distinguish different forms of privilege and White privilege, understanding how they operate in ways that can be invisible
  • Reflect on strategies to make privilege and Whiteness visible
  • Build your allyship skills and learn how to support more inclusive environments
